Jagged Ambush Bug

(Phymata)

They can often be seen in open meadows and gardens on flowers like goldenrod and aster, where their body coloring keeps them hidden from potential prey.  Jagged ambush bugs are voracious predators.  They ambush their prey by sitting motionless and waiting for the right insect to pass by. They are capable of catching prey much larger than themselves like bees and butterflies.
